1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how you interact with it.

2. The Consent Banner

The first time you visit universicadigital.com, a banner asks whether we may use analytics and advertising cookies. Until you choose Accept, no analytics or advertising cookies are set:

• PostHog — the product-analytics tool we use to see which pages help schools — is not loaded at all. None of its code runs, no request is made to PostHog's servers, nothing is stored on your device, and no session recording takes place.
• Google's tags do load, but run in cookieless “Consent Mode”: they set no cookies and send only aggregate, non-identifying signals, so we can count campaign traffic without identifying you.

Choosing Decline keeps it that way on this and every future visit. Choosing Accept starts both straight away, without reloading the page.

Your choice is stored in the sk_consent cookie for 180 days. You can change it at any time using the buttons below. If you withdraw consent we stop PostHog immediately — including any session recording in progress — and delete the cookie and browser storage it created.

3. Cookies We Use

• Essential & preference cookies: sk_consent stores your consent choice (180 days). Our school and parent web apps additionally use session cookies to keep you signed in.
• Analytics cookies (only after you accept): Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) helps us understand how visitors find and use the site. PostHog stores a first-party cookie and browser-storage entries named ph_* and __ph_opt_in_out_*, which identify your browser — not you personally — across pages so we can see which pages and buttons matter to schools and parents.
• Session recording (only after you accept): PostHog also records a replay of your visit — the pages you view and where you click — so we can see where people get stuck. Anything you type into a form is masked and is not recorded.
• Advertising cookies (only after you accept): Google Ads conversion cookies tell us when a visit from one of our ads leads to a school registering — so we know which outreach is worth doing.
• Lead attribution (only after you accept): sk_attr records which campaign or search brought you to the site — the campaign name and, if you arrived from a Google ad, the ad-click identifier. It contains nothing you typed and no personal details. We use it so that when a school books a demo we know which outreach actually worked. It expires after 90 days.

4. Third-Party Cookies

The analytics and advertising cookies above are set by Google and PostHog and are governed by their privacy policies. We do not use any other third-party cookies, and we never sell data collected through cookies.

5. Managing Cookies

Beyond the consent banner, you can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of Starkid from working correctly.

6. Cookie Retention

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period —sk_consent for 180 days, sk_attr for 90 days, Google Analytics cookies for up to 2 years, PostHog's ph_* cookie for up to 1 year — or until you manually delete them, or withdraw consent in section 2 above. We keep retention periods proportionate to their purpose.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date.
